  • What is window film?

Window film is a polyester base material, sometimes referred to as Polyethylene Butylene. This material starts out as a clear product with various metal, oxides or nano particle technology added to it to block UV and infrared rays and glare from the sun.

Window Tint USA installs 3M window films on the interior or exterior of glass surfaces in buildings, homes, vehicles and boats to reduce heat, provide UV protection, block glare, reduce energy costs and add security. 3MTM is a global leader in film and adhesive technologies. As a pioneer in the industry, 3M holds the very first patent on window film and manufactures all the raw materials that go into their films. 3M controls the quality of their window tints and decorative architectural films from start to finish. As a 3M Certified Dealer Installer, Window Tint USA is authorized to sell and install 3M’s industry leading window tints and films with 3M’s comprehensive warranties.

  • Are window film and window tint the same thing?

Yes. It’s fine to say either one. In the industry we refer to it as “film,” but most people say “window tint.”

  • Will window film save money on my energy bill?

Yes, window film can help you save money on energy costs. When installed in residential and commercial buildings, window film reduces the amount of the heat transfer through the windows in the summer, reducing the energy needed to cool the space. In the winter, the window film can help keep heat in, reducing the energy needed to heat the space. 3M Window Films block up to 99.9% of UV rays and reject up to 80% of the sun’s heat. The exact amounts blocked, as well as the amount of visible light blocked, depends on the type and tint of the film you select. Learn more here.

  • Does window film block heat?

Yes. 3M Window Films reject up to 82% of solar energy, keeping your environment cooler and more comfortable. By controlling hot spots and accumulated interior heat, window film helps you save on air conditioning and the energy needed to cool your home. Learn more here.

  • Does window film reduce glare?

Yes. Adding window film to your home can eliminate annoying solar glare that obstructs televisions and windows. Window film permits viewing with less eye strain. Learn more here.

  • Does window film stop fading?

Yes. The number one reason more homeowners have window tinting installed in their homes is to prevent fading. Window tint can protect your floors, rugs, furniture, cabinetry and artwork from sun damage. High-quality 3M window films block UV rays and heat transfer – the primary causes of fading – and still allow you to enjoy natural light in your home. Learn more here.

  • Will window film work on my windows?

Window film will adhere to all glass and will have varying degrees of results depending on your situation. We offer free consultations to discuss your specific needs, but in nearly every case the answer is yes. There is a type of 3M window film to suit your needs and your type of windows, doors or solid surfaces that you want to cover. We can apply film to glass front doors, French doors, skylights, high-rise hotels and office buildings, dual pane windows, tempered glass windows and more. Call us or request a quote.

  • How long does installation take?

Installations will vary in time. For example, four sliding glass doors using a 2 ml sun control product can take as little as three hours. Removal of existing film, smaller windows and excessive calking from the glass manufacturer will add to the installation time.

Vehicle and residential installations can often be completed in a day. Larger homes may take longer, and commercial projects will require custom estimates of the time needed to complete installation. We can usually work with your schedule and adjust to fit your needs. In addition, window film can be installed either on the interior or exterior of your windows. We’ll help you determine what’s best for your needs and the type of windows of you have.

  • Is window film expensive?

In Florida, window tint isn’t a luxury; it’s a necessity. But we can share some information that will help you understand how much window film should cost. Window Tint USA is so confident in our products and expertise, you can find vehicle tinting prices right on our website at windowtintusafl.com/automotive. You’ll see an explanation of how much window tint should cost for your vehicle based on the product you choose and the type of vehicle.

Home window tinting includes more variables than tinting a car. To give an accurate estimate for how much home window tinting should cost, a reputable installer should offer in-home estimates. We need to visit the home, assess the issue and take measurements.

Many of the same factors that apply to home window tinting apply to commercial window tinting. Whether you are interested in window film for a small storefront or a large high-rise office building, you will need an onsite estimate to find out how much window tinting should cost for your business.

  • Will my pet damage the window film?

Generally, smaller dogs will not harm the film, but this depends on how sharp their nails are. If there is a larger dog that may occasionally jump on a window, we recommend installing an anti-graffiti film over the sun control film or existing material. Anti-graffiti films are designed to deter damage on a glass surface. Learn more here.

Exterior window film is another solution. 3M’s Sun Control Window Film Prestige EXTERIOR Series is installed on the exterior of the window. It’s strong and durable enough to stand up to the weather, so there is no need to worry about it being outside. Exterior film blocks heat, UV rays and glare before they enter your home or building.
