Window Tint and Window Film Installation from Jupiter to Miami
Welcome to the Sunshine State. You may be from a place where snow boots and ice scrapers are seasonal necessities. Well, forget all that. It’s time to learn about a year-round necessity for your car, home and office – even your boat, if you have one – and that’s window tint.
Window tint can improve the look of your home or vehicle by adding uniformity and style. It also lowers glare and heat transfer, rejects UV rays and protests your interiors from fading, cracking and aging in the strong Florida sun. Window film can also improve safety and security, protect against graffiti damage and create a decorative look.
Florida window tint laws have been in place since 1991 and were last updated in 2022. They cover how dark the tint can be, or more precisely, how much light the tint must let through. This measure is called visible light transmission, or VLT.
People with certain medical conditions may qualify for a medical exception that allows lower VLT ratings for tint.

A sticker to identify legal tint is required on the inside of the driver’s side door jamb. Professional installers will place this sticker for you. Be aware that many police officers carry VLT meters. Make sure you have two working side mirrors.

If you’re keeping a home in another state and will be travelling or transporting your vehicle back and forth, make sure you check the tint laws in that state, too. Some of the northern states don’t allow tints as dark as Florida does. Window Tint USA and owner Jim Luck can help you find a tint that meets your needs. And with 3M window films, tint doesn’t have to be dark to perform well.
The glare, hotspots and heat transfer from the Florida sun will affect your home just like they do your car. 3M has window film products to solve that, too. Learn more about Home Window Tinting.
As with many things, proper installation is critical for window film. Even a good product won’t hold up well if it’s installed poorly. When looking for a window film installer, check which products they use, their certifications, warranty, reputation and experience.
Even though some 3M films are available for purchase and self-installation by the general public, only an Authorized 3M™ Window Film Dealer can purchase, install and warranty 3M’s high-end specialty films, such as 3M™ Sun Control Prestige Series and 3M™ Sun Control Film Ceramic Series. Authorized dealers who participate in additional training and can demonstrate advanced knowledge and skill can become 3M Certified. To be considered, a dealer must have at least three years of experience, validated business practices, and confirmed liability and insurance coverages. In addition, they must be knowledgeable about the products, provide great service and have high quality control standards, all of which are tested as part of 3M’s certification process. When you have your window film applied by a 3M™ Certified professional, you can rest assured that the product is high quality and the application was done properly.
However, an installer who is certified on automotive window film installation may not be certified on residential and commercial, or “flat glass,” application. 3M has created its Prestige Dealer Network for their elite flat glass companies and installation crews. Window Tint USA is proud to be the only 3M Prestige Elite Window Film Dealer for residential and commercial flat glass in the Pompano Beach, FL area. Window Tint USA is also a 3M Prestige Window Film Dealer for automotive window film, and the only 3M Crystalline Series Automotive Window Film Certified dealer in Pompano Beach.
In business for more than 35 years, you won’t find a more knowledgeable window film dealer than Window Tint USA owner Jim Luck. In 2017, he received a Dealer of the Year award, and in 2019 he received an Inspiration Award. Jim holds all of his installers to the same high standards, so you can count on 3M installation at Window Tint USA.
